All my posts this week have hinted to the fact that we’ve been having a rough week. Honestly, I don’t know how to put it any differently.  But for all the low points, we’re still rejoicing! God has totally provided everything we’ve needed and so much more.

Today I looked through some old photos in my flickr account. These are from our college group’s retreat to Santa Cruz in ‘07. It was after that trip that Jeff & I started becoming close friends, and not just acquaintances. Actually, since that trip we’ve only gone about 10-12 days of not seeing each other for at least five minutes.

You see, we started dating two months later. A month after that, Jeff started the police academy. Jeff’s best friend & his wife gave him a lot of advice on how to survive the academy while in a relationship.  Their most important advice was that we see each other every day, even if just for five minutes.  Jeff didn’t want to be in a relationship while in the academy because of how time consuming and hard it is. On our first “un-”date I had basically said to him that if he’s meant to be in a relationship with anyone, then God will provide them with everything they need to make it work. That the person he’s in the relationship with, if they’re committed to him they will understand that they also need to make sacrifices for him to do well in the academy.

Needless to say, by the end of that evening our “un-” date had turned into a date, and we were a couple. I love looking back at these photos of our Bible study on the beach, reminding me of the trip that sparked our relationship. That trip brought our whole group together.

After this week, it’s nice remembering where we started and everything that we’ve gone through since then, good and bad. This week has been rough compared to others, but I know that no matter what happens God will get us through it.

Hey Meg,

I’ve been following your blog for awhile now, but I just wanted to let you know that as someone who also has a loved one in law enforcement, I’m praying for ya!
